Gokhale Institute, BasavanaGudi, Bengaluru.
It was a rare occasion to see ,hear and experience Ashtavadhana by Shatavadhani R Ganesh at Gokhale Institute.
The program is so popular that there were hardly any seat before Ashtavadhana began. Every seat was occupied and outside the hall, chairs were placed to watch the event on LCD screen.
Dr R Ganesh is (4 - 12 - 1962), is practitioner of Art of Avadhana, author in sanskrit and Kannada and extempore poet in multiple languages. He first performed his Shatavadhana entirely in in Kannada in 16th February 2014.
Ashtavadhana is multitasking performing art, and he has done more than 1000 avadhanas in different languages. He has written number of scholarly books and is capable of giving extempore speech on any subject, history, philosophy, art, music poetry and literature.
His profile is nicely written by Naveen in his blog: http://nodiswaminaviroduheege.blogspot.com/2011/09/about-shatavadhani-rganesh.html
It was a great experience to watch R Ganesh performing at Ashtavadhana, whether it is SankhyaBandha, Nishedartha, SamasyaPurana, TatvaPda, ChitraKavite or meaning to KavyaVachana by ChandraShekara Kedilaya.
His intelligence in composing AashuKavithe ( ಬೈಗುಳ, ಎಳೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಬದುಕು, ಸೀರೆ ಅಂಗಡಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಆಲಿಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮಳೆ ) was amazing.
One example:
It was almost three hours non-stop performance and hardly any one moved from their seats.
There were more than 500 people, and also there was tiffin (BisibeleBath, mosaranna and bajji) at the end of the program.
