SiemReap, Cambodia
After heavy breakfast at the hotel, we ready for seeing the temples around SiemReap (Angkor)
Angkor Wat is a temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world. It is built on a site measuring 162.5 hectares (602 acres), originally constructed as a Hindu Temple, by Khmer King Suryavarman II at the beginning of 12th Century.
Towards the end of 12th century, Angkor Wat gradually transformed from a centre of worship to Buddhism, which continues till present day.
The temple was neglected after 16th century and eventually abandoned. A Portuguese monk who visited i 1586 said that it is of extraordinary constrution that i is not possible to describe it with a pen, particularly since it is like no ther building in the world. It has towers and decorations and all the refinements which the human genius can conceive.
It is really true. Such a magnificent could not have been constructed without a brilliant genius mind behind it. It is a place to visit in one's lifetime and the mind goes back to glorious days of Angkor Empire in 12th to 14th century.
We spent a quite a lot of time seeing around the place, taking photos the guide Mr Nivath was explaining about the history.
