We witnessed an excellent Cambodian, Traditional Dance Show at a small theater hall at National Museum, PhnomPenh. It was an open air hall seating capacity about 150 people and the tickets were priced at $15, $20, $25. The seats were wooden chairs with cushions for high priced tickets We bought the tickets in the afternoon and they said $15 tickets were sold out.
The show was at 7 pm and gates opened at 6.30 pm and we reached the premises around 6 pm.
It started on time and audience were all foreigners. Only few were Asian origin.
The show started with traditional dance of Cambodian girls with beautiful costume. The movements were slow and hand, facial gestures were amazing. There was live music with drums and other instruments.
The presentation consisted of 8 - 10 minutes of different stories of the tradition with music and acting, supported by melodious live music. The titles were like Buffalo sacrifice, Hanuman Dance, Farmers Dance, etc.
The 60 minutes show ended with all participants coming on stage and an anchor introducing them and appealing the audience for financial support the Cambodian Living Arts
The show was mesmerizing and surely one must include it in your trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
It was also entertaining, magical and educative.
