LalBhaag, NammaBengaluru.
SUGGI is the farmers' festival, where they celebrate the harvesting season, happy with the crops they got, hence the family joins in the celebrations.
Now it is being celebrated in the cities, emphasizing the need to change the lifestyle and use more of organic millet based food.
It's also "Makara Samkranthi" festival, when the sun changes his path from South to North i,e, Dakshinayana to Uttarayana.
The state Government, along with department of Agriculture and Horticulture, organized a day long festival " SUGGI HUGGI" at LaalBhaag in Bengaluru.
One of the highlight of the festival is KITE FLYING, where in the villages, in the open fields, people enjoy flying kites of various sizes and faces. They enjoy thrill and excitement in flying the kites higher and higher.
"KICCHU HAAYISU" (ಕಿಚ್ಚು ಹಾಯಿಸು ) is another highlight of the festival, where male cows are decorated and made to run on burning fire, from dry grass. People enjoy the thrill, though it is the punishment for cows.
We went only in the evening when most of the organic food festival was over, but we could see the highlights of the evening.
